چکیده
This paper introduces new ways to establish data link level forwarding for IPv6 packets on ATM links. The designed method is merged into to the core of IPv6 protocol. This improves the performance compared to the other traffic-based IP over ATM protocols.

Modeling Ip over Atm
ATM is becoming a widely used technology as a backbone for connecting data networks. An important consideration when analyzing the performance of data traffic over switched networks such as ATM is the routing scheme utilized. The IP layer traditionally handles all routing processes in TCP/IP networks. For ATM, OPNET contains standard models that map IP packet traffic to ATM virtual circuits. Ho...
متن کاملToshiba's Router Architecture Extensions for ATM : Overview
This memo describes a new internetworking architecture which makes better use of the property of ATM. IP datagrams are transferred along hop-by-hop path via routers, but datagram assembly/disassembly and IP header processing are not necessarily carried out at individual routers in the proposed architecture. A concept of "Cell Switch Router (CSR)" is introduced as a new internetworking equipment...

متن کاملPerformance of TCP over Multi-Hop ATM Networks: A Comparative Study of ATM-Layer Congestion Control Schemes
We study the performance of TCP/IP on a multi-hop ATM network by simulation in an eeort to evaluate the eeec-tiveness of various congestion-control schemes at the ATM layer. The congestion control schemes considered are the ATM-Early Packet Discard (ATM-EPD) and link-level ow control. The performance of these schemes are compared against that of an ATM layer with no congestion control, as well ...
متن کاملProject DIANA - Converging and integrating IP and ATM for real-time applications
The evolution of IP and ATM share some common drivers. Both of them are addressing efficient network resource utilisation. In order to evaluate the options and combinations offered by these technologies the DIANA project is looking into the areas where ATM and IP both overlap and complete each other, that is QoS interworking between ATM and IP. This is achieved by investigating RSVP-over-ATM ap...
